In the wild, Kiger mustangs come in all shapes, sizes and colors. The American Kiger Horse Registry (AKHR) requires no inspection process, no minimum conformation criteria, and no age requirements. One of the goals of AKHR is to register all Kiger horses that can be traced back to one of the two recognized Oregon Kiger Herd Management Areas.
AKHR will actively promote Kiger breeders that participate in selective breeding practices and programs so as to retain the inherent quality or features of the original or primitive characteristics and attributes of the Kiger mustang. Those breeders of purebred Kigers (no found blood) are listed in the Breeder’s Directory. |
