Some of the horses in the directory are listed more than once. Why?

Sometime the same horse is advertised or represented differently, which creates a discrepancy in the information provided to

the public. A few of these differences appear in the spelling of its name, different parents, different years of birth, etc.

There are horses in the Directory that are NOT Kigers. Why?

These are horses that are advertised/represented as Kigers, but AKHR is not able to verify their validity with the information

provided. In most cases, no ancestry is shown in the ad and in several cases, the ad listed their Freeze brand #, which was

traced to an "out-side" HMA

********

Why does a "K" appear at the far right of some horse's and a "KHMA" on others?

In the instance where just a "K" appears, that means that the horse is represented as being from the Kiger Herd Management

Area. When "KHMA" is shown in that column, the Kiger has been verified through its Freeze brand information as being from the

Kiger Herd Management Area and is a foundation Kiger. Foundation Kigers are currently registered at no charge.

Can you only check on the horse with an underline?

The answer to that is "no." Anyone can check out a horse's ancestry if there is no underlining, but it takes longer because each

dam and sire must be looked up in the Mustang Directory (MD), one at a time.

The underlined Kigers will have pics and pedigrees linked to their names because they are AKHR-registered and their ancestry has

been reviewed and verified. Their names also appear in bold type. Unfortunately, not all of the Kigers registered with AKHR have

had their owners request to have a pic and pedigree as a link even though it is one of the free benefits. That is why you see so

many Kigers in bold, but with no underlining.

Why are there so few Kiger Mustangs that are listed as PURE Kigers?

Only AKHR-registered Kigers may be shown as Pure and in bold type because they have been reviewed and their ancestry

verified. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your interest in the

American Kiger Horse Registry.
